About ConfTele

The 11th Conference on Telecommunications (Conftele 2019) will be held in Lisbon, Portugal from June 26 until June 28, 2019. The theme of this year’s conference is "Telecommunications Technologies Pursuing New Ways of Living and Travelling”. The event is organized by the Telecommunications Specialization (Colégio de Engenharia Eletrotécnica) of Ordem dos Engenheiros (OE) and Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT).

In the beginning of the 5G era, the telecommunications sector is facing the challenge of transforming the digital world, and provide more data to more people, with a blend of different applications supported by innovative terminals. Research aspects faced by the broad ICT domain, span from optical radio convergence technologies that support the core and access networks, to aspects of multimedia and networks and verticals, all supported by different energy efficient enabling technologies.

In 2015, ConfTele was successfully included TECHDAYS and aimed at being an international forum for the exchange of information among universities, different research units, service providers, operators and manufacturers, on recent technical issues in telecommunications. This year edition looks to help businesses in strengthening their business model innovation and technology with the aim to create, capture, deliver, receive and consume new techno-business model ecosystems through cross-/inter-disciplinary research and collaboration. The 11th ConfTele will bring together academia, industries and standardization bodies to explore activities, trends and future challenges towards ICT globalization for health, vehicular and resource optimization issues in existing and future telecommunication technologies. Some of the important interest areas are IoT and body communications, cellular for the skies, spectrum management, public policy issues and business modelling innovation and technology, among many other topics.

After a series of previous events that took place in Aveiro, Sesimbra, Figueira da Foz, Tomar, Peniche, Vila da Feira, Lisboa, Castelo Branco and Aveiro again, this time ConfTele is coming back to Lisbon to debate the last developments in the area of telecommunications in the historical headquarters of Ordem dos Engenheiros, the Portuguese Engineers Association.

A key emphasis of this year's conferences is Sailing the Oceans of Telecommunications - bridging across industries, public and private companies, universities, research labs, and other knowledge societies in exploration of the newest telecommunications technologies pursuing new ways of living and travelling as well as innovative and sustainable solutions for the future.

ConfTele includes plenary sessions with invited keynote speakers, invited talks, parallel thematic sessions (including oral and poster presentations), and tutorials. Papers can be regular or belong to special sessions. There will also be interactive sessions (with a pitch presentation followed by poster presentation) on the discussion of previously published papers (2018-19). On Wednesday June 26th, there  will  be a Workshop on Communications, Public Safety and Innovative Applications with Aerial Drones. The technical activities will be held in English or Portuguese.
